SHORT-TERM EFFECTS OF MENOPAUSE
It is estimated that around 85% of menopausal women go through some manifestations of estrogen deficiency. However, only 25% suffer enough to seek medical help. The most common problems are:
Menstrual irregularity is normal during the pre-menopausal years. However, heavy menses with flooding can occur and may be caused by hormonal excesses or deficiencies at this time. Also, gynecological problems become manifest in this age group, such as fibroid tumors in the uterus, polyps, ovarian cysts and cancer of the uterus.
